Why is this gathering called "Sacred Rhythms Fellowship"?
The whole of Life has an intuitive rhythm—an intelligent unfolding—that can be felt and recognized within the deepest parts of ourselves when we allow the practices of curiosity, stillness, and awareness their proper place in our lives.
Perhaps the most direct way to access the abundant wisdom of nature is to observe the changing seasons throughout the cycle of a year - the sacred rhythm.
The term fellowship is defined as a "friendly association, especially with people who share one's interests."
The past several years have challenged and affected each of us, some to an extreme degree. Most of us have struggled at times with feeling any combination of unsettled, afraid, angry, disconnected, depressed, and overwhelmed. Although it has impacted each of us differently, we have experienced a collective trauma.
Ask any trauma-informed healer or specialist, and they will affirm that three profound supports in digesting and integrating the effects of trauma are spiritual practices, nature, and community.
What I offer is a safe, affirming space in which we can:
Take intentional time away from our typical days to slow down and practice self-care
Learn and practice different forms of meditation, gentle yoga, and breathwork (pranayama) to help us feel grounded and embodied
Listen to a wisdom teaching based on the current time of year and contemplate/discuss how it might resonate with us and support us in our everyday lives
Cultivate a community of support rooted in compassion, integrity, authenticity, and depth
Reattune to the sacred rhythm of life so we have the faith and courage to *allow* life's natural flow instead of fighting it, and to discern how to move with that flow wisely
As an aside, I do not ascribe to any particular religion - it is my perspective that religious dogma, colonization, patriarchy, and capitalism are the primary drivers of our current state of disconnection from ourselves and nature (which are actually the same thing).
I draw from wisdom texts, teachers, and practices from many spiritual traditions in my own practice, and I have an abiding faith rooted in my own direct experiences with Grace. I appreciate that the core of all world religions and faith traditions echo the same teachings of love, compassion, and respect for all beings.
Regardless of whether you identify with a particular religion or have no belief in a higher power, there is something here for you, and all of you is welcome.
